Sam Ehlinger Had a Record-Breaking 1st Half vs. UTEP
On the first play from scrimmage, Texas QB Sam Ehlinger hooked up with Joshua Moore for a 78-yard touchdown. Ehlinger hit Moore on a deep-in and Moore booked down the field untouched.

They never looked back, taking a 45-3 lead over UTEP into halftime, and Ehlinger wound up breaking the school record for passing yards in a half (429).

Ehlinger completed 24-of-32 passes and found five different Longhorn receivers for touchdowns. Besides the 78-yard strike to open the game, he had TD passes of 40, 20, 6 and 5. You can see the 20-yarder to Cade Brewer below.

A senior, Ehlinger was on the shortlist of Heisman Trophy favorites before the season began (+1200 odds). Yes, it’s only UTEP, but his performance in the first half on Saturday gave him a nice cushion to build off from here on out. Gotta pad the stats when you have the chance.
