Shwayze and Cisco Adler Go “Back to the Beginning” With Brand New Single
On Friday, April 27th, Cisco Adler and Shwayze both posted to Instagram with a surprise announcement: a brand new single. The song, “Back to the Beginning”, is the first time in eight years that the pair has recorded new music together.
The new song comes on the heels of another big announcement by the pair of musicians: a nine-date tour this summer. The tour, which will be their first extended run in almost a decade, will hit four cities on the East Coast and four on the West — with one two-night stop in San Luis Obispo.
“Back to the Beginning” seems to be an introspective look at the Cisco-Shwayze relationship, with reflections of how the world has changed since they first blew up in the summer of 2008. In Shwayze’s first verse, he raps about not talking to someone enough (presumably, Cisco) but having their back no matter what. Later on, he riffs on how the marijuana laws have changed (favorably) in the last 10 years.
As usual, Cisco provides the soul of the song with a crooning hook.
“Alright, we’ve been up like all night, underneath the starlight, waiting for a sign.” -Cisco Adler on “Back to the Beginning”
Fans of the California duo have reacted very favorably to the new track. Since they announced the song, both artist’s Instagram feeds have been flooded with a mix of fire emojis, prayer hands, and requests for more new music.
Like you’d expect, the “Buzzin” duo is extremely grateful for the support they’ve received. Cisco, in a quick conversation with Slackie Brown, summed it up in four powerful words.
“Good to be back…”
