No More Mark Reynolds Bombs: “I’m Retired”
Mark Reynolds dropped a lot of bombs in his day — 298 to be exact — but they’ll drop no more. Reynolds announced his retirement today on MLB Network Radio.
“I’m retired,” he told Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on his show Thursday. “I guess that’s breaking news on your show. I haven’t really told anybody.”

In 13 seasons, Reynolds collected 1,283 hits while posting a .780 OPS and .236 BA. He had four seasons with 30-plus homers (2009-11, 2017) and hit a career-best .282 with the Rockies in 2016. On the other hand, he also led the league in strikeouts four times.
Reynolds, who grew up in Virginia, has a ton of DMV ties. He played his college ball for the Virginia Cavaliers (alongside Ryan Zimmerman) and spent time with the O’s and Nats during his MLB career. In 2011, he smacked 37 homers with Baltimore — the most by any Orioles player in over a decade — then helped the O’s break their 14-year postseason dry spell in 2012. Two years ago, he brought his bat to D.C. with the Nats, slugging 13 home runs in 86 games.
Last year, he finished his career with a career-worst .170 batting average as a member of the Rockies.
Altogether, he played with the D-Backs (563 games), Rockies (344 games), Orioles (290 games), Cardinals (140 games), Brewers (130 games), Indians (99 games), Nationals (86 games), and Yankees (36 games).
