Special Edition of ESPN College Gameday Planned For UNC-Duke
When Duke hosts rival North Carolina on Wednesday, February 20th, there will be a special edition of ESPN College Gameday covering the event. Normally, the popular pregame show is exclusively for Saturdays but since it’s such an important game, ESPN is making a special arrangement.
Per ESPN’s official press release:
A special edition of College GameDay Covered by State Farm will originate from Durham, N.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 20, with host Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams. The traveling college basketball show (6 p.m. ET, ESPN) precedes a top-10 Sonic Blockbuster matchup and one of the most historic rivalries in college basketball as No. 8 North Carolina faces No. 2 Duke at 9 p.m., also on ESPN. Bilas will join Dan Shulman and Maria Taylor to call all of the action from Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Additionally, the UNC-Duke game will have a “Player Iso Cam” telecast exclusively on ESPN+, per the press release, with Greenberg, Williams, and Davis providing commentary.
The game will be the first of two UNC-Duke meetings this year, with the second coming on March 9th in Chapel Hill, NC. The second meeting, per usual, will be each team’s final regular season game of the season.
Last year, the two teams split during the regular season. North Carolina beat Duke on their home floor 82-78 in their first meeting, while the Blue Devils topped the Tar Heels 74-64 in their regular-season finale.
As of February 16th, Duke is ranked No. 1 via KenPom, The Tar Heels are a few spots behind them at No. 8.
