Taylor Heinicke Set Twitter on Fire With Touchdown Scramble

Taylor Heinicke, making a spot start for an injured Alex Smith, will have a lot more fans after tonight’s game (win or lose) than before kickoff. He’s traded punches with Tom Brady all night and made an incredible play near the end of the third quarter that set Twitter on fire and got WFT within two points.

Heinicke, an Old Dominion alum, eluded a slew of Bucs in the pocket (which he’s done all night) and scrambled for an eight-yard touchdown. The highlight of the play, though, came when Heinicke took off in a full leap from the five-yard line and toppled the pylon with the nose of the football. It was incredible and, at least in the short term, the Washington Football Team may have an option under center.

UPDATE: Heinicke went back into the locker room to get looked at after hurting his shoulder early in the fourth quarter. He’s questionable to return.

UPDATE: He appears to be back…and the world rejoices.
