Terps, Hoos Among Local Teams in Schwab’s Latest Bracketeering
Howie Schwab, star of the most underrated game show of our generation, Stump the Schwab, is at Fox Sports these days covering the NCAA Tournament. Twice a week, he releases his projected NCAA Tournament bracket, titled”Bracketeering with the Schwab.”
His latest bracket (Feb. 14) has a number of local teams, highlighted by Virginia with a No. 1 seed (Midwest), Virginia Tech with a No. 5 seed (East), and Maryland with a No. 6 seed (East). George Mason isn’t included, obviously, but they can be if they steal the Atlantic-10 Tournament at Barclay’s Center in March. That said, VCU and Davidson are currently in Schwab’s bracket — one as an at-large and one as conference champion.
Liberty, a program from Lynchburg, VA, was one of the first four out in the latest release.
Another interesting note: the Pac 12, one of the most prestigious conferences in the country, is nearly invisible in Schwab’s latest bracket, receiving just one bid (Washington). Four lesser conferences, it should be noted, have multiple bids —Â A-10, AAC, Mountain West, and MAC.
