The Handmaid’s Tale Will Return Darker Than Ever
The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu’s response to the numerous Netflix hits, will be back in our lives on April 25.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, The Handmaid’s Tale took the world by storm, bringing forth social media firestorms and hundreds of think pieces about the dangers of toxic patriarchy and the other fun buzz words that exist in our current climate.
On Thursday, the trailer for the second season dropped.
And that shit was lit.
Here’s the trailer:

The trailer begins where season one ended: Offred (the sensational Elizabeth Moss) in the back of a black van being transported somewhere unknown. That’s also where Atwood’s novel ended.
It looks as if it may be even darker that season one, where rape, disfigurement, and enslavement ran rampant.
The new season will be uncharted territory because it will give the writers a chance to create a new storyline and explore Atwood’s themes (religion, feminism, slavery, class, etc…) in their own way, though Atwood was consulted.
It’s exciting to know that the series will be continuing with a blend of fresh ideas with the guiding hand of the one who created the world.
And if season two is anything like season one, we’re all in for quite a ride.
