Just Sayin: The Last Time LeBron James Hit a Crazy Game Winner, the Cavs Fell Apart

LeBron James proved his mega-star status tonight with back-to-back incredible plays to save the game. I’m sure you’ve seen them already but let’s roll the tape just for a reference.

First, he had a chase-down block (that was really a goaltend, but whatever) on Victor Oladipo:

LeBron just rules the NBA and that’s a fact.

Then, he capped it off with an amazing three as time expired:

Now, that’s all great and the Cavaliers won 98-95, but remember the last time LeBron James hit a crazy game-winning shot in the playoffs? (Or, at least, the last one that most NBA fans remember.) Well, before we get to what happened, let’s roll the tape, again…

And before we roll the tape, it must be noted that this video was posted by LeBron himself in a #FlashbackFriday post — which is SO LeBron it hurts.

Ok, so LeBron hit this game-winning shot against Orlando during the 2009 NBA Playoffs. The shot, which is nearly identical to his game-winner against Indiana, sealed the win for LeBron’s Cavaliers’ team (first time around) and evened the series 1-1.

Howeverrrrrr, after that game, the Cavaliers lost three of their next four and were bounced out by Dwight Howard and company. And, he couldn’t quite find his stroke from deep after the game-winner: 7-28 (25 percent).

I’m a big-time LeBron defender, but, ya know, I’m just sayin’.
