‘The Rewatchables’: Five Best Episodes and Five Episodes We’d Like To See Made

Any time someone is new to the world of podcasts, and trust me, there are still a bunch of them, I always tell them to give The Rewatchables a shot. Like music and food, movies are pretty universal. But unlike some other shows, The Rewatchables isn’t extremely niche and offers something for all movie-lovers. The best part, however, is that this show is about movies you’ve seen a million times, not stuff you haven’t heard of or checked out a trailer for. In that way, I guess, it is niche but it doesn’t discriminate by genre. From The Departed to Varsity Blues to 10 Things I Hate About You and beyond, The Rewatchables really runs the gamut in terms of catalog.

After a 25-episode first season, the show is back with a bang for their second season. You could even argue that the first two episodes of this season — The Social Network; Training Day — are the best they’ve done. Below, we’ll include the five best episodes of The Rewatchables, then five movies they should get to at some point during their run.

Five Best Episodes So Far:

Good Will Hunting

Training Day

The Big Lebowski

Zodiac

The Social Network

Five Movies We’d Like To See:

Rounders
If there is one movie that would fit The Ringer’s demographic, this is it. Bill Simmons is friendly with Brian Koppelman — who co-wrote the film — and the site really loves their gambling.

Space Jam
This one checks all the boxes for The Ringer. We get Michael Jordan, a few other NBA players, several hilarious scenes, and universal admiration. Maybe they’re saving it for when the LeBron Space Jam comes out.

Bull Durham
They always do sports movies…so why not do the best baseball movie ever made?

Boiler Room
Similar to Rounders, this one is right up the alley for The Ringer’s demo. Plus, we get a young Ben Affleck, a young Vin Diesel, sleazy salesmen, and tons of legendary scenes. I drive a Ferrari, 355 Cabriolet, What’s up?

No Country For Old Men
Every time this movie comes on the TV, you cannot turn it off. Try it sometime. Plus, they do movies that received critical acclaim, so it totally fits. Like they did for the Zodiac episode, it would be awesome to hear Chris Ryan, Sean Fennessey, and Andy Greenwald chop this one up.

There’s about 100 other ones that would be awesome, too. Now that I did the five, I’m thinking Ocean’s Eleven would be another killer episode. Jeez, it must be tough for these guys to choose which films they cover.
