The network recently released a two-part special on Aaron Hernandez, “Aaron Hernandez Uncovered”, which detailed the life, arrest, and death of the former New England Patriots’ star.

While the whole thing is an intriguing watch, the main headline-grabber is the time spent exploring the tight end’s sexuality.
George Leontire, an openly gay lawyer who represented Hernandez, said in the documentary that he spoke with Aaron regarding his sexual orientation.
“This man clearly was gay,” Leontire said. “He also came out of a culture that was so negative about gay people that he exhibited some self-hatred.”
Shayanna Jenkins, the mother of Hernandez’s daughter, also appeared in the program regarding the potential topic coming up in court.
“Jose (Baez) speaking to me about Aaron’s sexuality was very hard because I was confused. I still kind of am,” Jenkins said. (Baez was another member of the defense team.)

In addition to Jenkins and Leontire, a former girlfriend of Hernandez from the University of Florida appeared in the second part — Alyssa Anderson.
Anderson referenced an affair that Hernandez had with a man while they were together, one that he confirmed later in life when they exchanged letters.
Hernandez, who was serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, was found dead in his jail cell on April 19th, 2017 — days after he was found not-guilty of a 2012 double-murder.
