Tulsa Could Spoil “College Gameday” Treatment For AAC Football
College Gameday is one of the most popular pregame sports shows on television, if not the most popular. I’d say the Inside The NBA crew is on the same level but that’s an argument for another day. The Gameday crew hits a new college town each weekend to spotlight a premier game on the schedule. AAC football hasn’t had the pleasure of their company yet this season, but from the looks of things, they might get the College Gameday treatment in Week 10.
The game in question is SMU at Memphis, a matchup that could be featuring two teams with one combined loss. Gameday’s Chris Fowler hinted on Instagram that his crew has their sights on the AAC grudge match, only Memphis hasn’t played yet this week. If the Tigers lose at Tulsa, it will be hard to justify them setting up shop on the campus of a team that just lost to a two-win program.
Interesting. Chris Fowler just posted this on his Instagram. pic.twitter.com/wUuurlpuWJ

While Tulsa only has two wins, they gave SMU all they could handle a few weeks back, leading 30-9 at one point before blowing their lead. That game was at Tulsa as well so Memphis, who’s a 10-point favorite against the Golden Hurricane, isn’t in line for a complete cakewalk.
If the Memphis does win and the College Gameday crew brings their talents to Grind City, it will be the first of the season for AAC football. That’s not to say the popular show doesn’t have strong ties to the American; College Gameday does an annual broadcast from the site of the Army-Navy game.
That said, SMU-Memphis would be just the second AAC vs. AAC contest to host Gameday in the conference’s history.
Memphis vs. Tulsa will be must-see television. CBS Sports Network will broadcast the game nationally at 7:00 P.M ET. In their five meetings since joining the AAC, Memphis has gone 4-1, including a 47-21 thumping last season.
