Ty Jerome to Bucks, Hunter to Wiz in Fox Sports Mock Draft
Ty Jerome and De’Andre Hunter are national champions. In a few weeks, they should be NBA Draft picks. Even better, they both could be first-round NBA Draft picks.
If things play out the same way Jason McIntyre sees them, that will be the case.
McIntyre, an analyst for Fox Sports and the creator of The Big Lead, has both Virginia stars going in the first round of his latest NBA Mock Draft (below). Hunter, per J-Mac, will go at No. 6 to the hometown Washington Wizards while Jerome will join Giannis and co. in Milwaukee at No. 30.
Maryland’s Bruno Fernando is noticeably missing, however, as his stock has fallen since the Terps’ early exit in the NCAA Tournament.
Not surprisingly, Zion Williamson is McIntyre’s No. 1 overall pick, followed by RJ Barrett, Ja Morant, Darius Garland, and Cam Reddish.
If Hunter to Washington proves to be correct, the Wizards will definitely benefit from the Hoos fanbase in the DMV area. Hunter delivered some of the most memorable moments during UVA’s title run so I’m sure fans will pay it forward and support him in the pros.
In Jerome’s case, Milwaukee seems like a perfect fit; they won’t need Ty to do too much early on, as the team is already established and thriving. If needed, he’ll be able to play with the first unit as a catch-and-shoot forward or, off the bench, he can be someone who creates offense off the dribble.
Of course, mock drafts are mock drafts and they’re mostly wrong. But…both situations McIntyre has laid out for the former Virginia stars would be ideal.
The NBA draft lottery will take place on May 14th, while the actual draft will be on June 20th. Tankathon has an NBA Draft Lottery simulator here if you need.
