UVA: Kyle Guy, De’Andre Hunter Earn National Honors
The good news just keeps rolling in for the Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team. Both Kyle Guy and De’Andre Hunter were voted to AP All-American Third Team on Tuesday, while their teammate, Ty Jerome, was among the players to earn an honorable mention nod.
Hunter also won the NABC Defensive Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season, putting him in a group of that includes former Virginia star Malcolm Brogdon (’15-’16), Pro Basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill (’92-’93), and three-time winner Tim Duncan.
A few weeks ago, Hunter also won the ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Besides the AP, there are a few other notable All-American teams — USBWA, NABC, and Sporting News. Hunter was chosen by all four committees, including a second-team honor from the NABC, and Guy was chosen for the third-team by all groups except the USBWA.
Virginia will play Auburn on Saturday, April 6th in the Final Four.
