UVA’s Ty Jerome, De’Andre Hunter Signing Agents, Declaring for NBA Draft

Although they both have collegiate eligibility remaining, Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter (sophomore) and Ty Jerome (junior) are heading to the NBA. Per matching posts on Instagram, both stars are signing agents and declaring for the NBA Draft.

Due to recent rule changes, the recent announcements by Hunter and Jerome don’t guarantee they’re done at UVA, though it’s likely.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is April 21. Players who do elect to declare early will have until the NCAA deadline of May 29 to withdraw from the draft and retain their college eligibility.

Due to an NCAA rule change instituted this year, players are allowed to hire an agent without forfeiting their college eligibility, so it won’t be as clear which players intend to stay in the draft as it was in previous years. Players can also elect to return to school if they go undrafted, but this rule only applies to players who participated in the NBA Draft Combine.
