James Madison Earns Top Spot in Official FCS Poll; VMI Also in Top 10
After starting the season without a loss between them, the James Madison and VMI football programs have landed in the official FCS Top 10. James Madison (4-0) was the No. 2 team coming into the season and has had several convincing wins thus far, including a 52-0 triumph over Morehead State in their opener and a 38-10 win over rival William & Mary this past Saturday.
VMI has continued their steady rise up the charts to take the No. 8 spot in the surprise FCS drop. The Keydets (5-0) have already equaled their win total from 2019 when they finished 5-7. The highlight of their season so far may be their season-opening win over No. 10 Furman, but there’s also something to be said of freshman backup quarterback Seth Morgan leading VMI to a 36-31 comeback victory over Wofford in his first-ever start this past Saturday.

“The announcement is part of the continued team assessments that will culminate with the final bracket revealed during the selection show on Sunday, April 18, at 11:30 a.m. ET on ESPNU,” the official release stated.
As of now, James Madison doesn’t have another game on its schedule after the CAA announced their next two games were being nixed due to COVID-19 issues in opposing programs. That said, they’re “searching for opponents,” per a report from WHSV.
The Keydets, who will be selling some tickets to games moving forward, have two home games ahead of them against ETSU (April 3) and The Citadel (April 17).
