Sean Doolittle Picked Up For Stretch Run By Seattle Mariners
Recently DFA’d reliever and former Virginia baseball star Sean Doolittle was picked up by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. Doolittle will help out the M’s bullpen for the final stretch run. They’re currently 2.5 games back for the second AL Wild Card spot. If they do make the playoffs, Doolittle would be eligible for the postseason roster.
DFA’d on Tuesday by Cincinnati, the veteran leftie has pitched to a 4.46 ERA this season. Recently, his numbers out of the pen have been pretty good, save for one poor outing. In nine appearances since July 18th, Doolittle has a 3.68 ERA and .154 BAA.
This was Doolittle’s first season with Cincinnati after spending the last 3.5 seasons with the Washington Nationals. He was an all-star in 2018 and a key piece of the Nats World Series run in 2019.
