UVA Basketball Lands Armaan Franklin From Indiana
The Virginia basketball program landed a big fish in the transfer market on Thursday night, signing Armaan Franklin from Indiana, per his Twitter account. Fans have been worrying about the future — with good reason — so this is real big news for Wahoo Nation.
Excited about the next chapter in my hoops life. Still, have to say a big thanks to the IU community, fans and my teammates for all their support. Know that I appreciate you all so much! ⚔️🔹🔸⚔️ @UVAMensHoops pic.twitter.com/NErzsdMDXL

Franklin was second on Indiana in scoring this past season but he really does everything. He finished the ’20-21 season with an impressive stat line — 11.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.2 spg — and was the Hoosiers’ top three-point shooter. The 6-foot-4 guard shot 42.4 percent from deep, good for a Top 10 ranking in the Big Ten Conference.
A four-star recruit out of high school, Franklin will have plenty of opportunities to be a major contributor in Charlottesville. In addition to losing their two all-conference selections from last season (seniors Sam Hauser and Jay Huff) and three-point ace (senior Tomas Woldetensae), the Wahoos had a ton of talent hit the transfer portal. Two regular rotation players, Justin McKoy and Casey Morsell, entered right after the season, as did their top recruit from the 2020 class, Jabri Abdur-Rahim.
“Treat him well,” replied Assembly Call to Franklin’s Twitter post. “Incredible young man. Terrific, improving player.”
Virginia has more spots to fill so stay tuned to our Virginia-only transfer portal tracker. They’ve been in the Jayden Gardner discussion and already inked Taine Murray from New Zealand.
