UVA Basketball Christmas Wish List
Please enjoy the unofficial Christmas wish list for the Virginia basketball program; all the things I’m sure people in the program are writing Santa about. It’s a totally fresh idea that’s never been done before, I know, but please don’t heap too much praise.
An NBA gig for Kyle GuyÂ
OK, this one is a no-brainer, right? He showed flashes last year with Sacramento, especially when he got extended time, and he’s been tearing up the G-League for years. This year? No different. He’s right behind fellow UVAer Sam Hauser in made three-point field goals — Hauser (T-2nd place) has 39; Guy (T-4th place) has 37. So yeah, it’d be awesome if you could get that contract drafted up, Santa.
Tony Bennett Court?
Apparently, they’re exploring options to name the court at JPJ or have it sponsored (link). Definitely don’t know the process here but I can see Tony Bennett Court (presented by Food Lion or something) as a final solution. You know, do the right thing…but also put a little dough in the till.
Impression Sports & Entertainment has been retained by @VirginiaSports to conduct a valuation and sales campaign for basketball court naming rights at John Paul Jones Arena.

All remaining games to be against Radford or Providence…
…so Armaan Franklin can be MONEY from beyond the arc. He was 9-14 against said opponents and 3-for-43 against everyone else. Incredible.
Everyone to get a jersey shirt deal from Mincer’s
Reece Beekman and a few others already have a deal. Would love to see everyone’s name and number for sale. Soon enough, I’m sure.
Balance and consistency for the bench mob
The bench mob came in and went BOMBS AWAY against FDU this weekend. A big chunk of the base is talking about it. It was great to watch, for sure, but let’s not ignore the plunge the defense took. After the U12 TV timeout, UVA only outscored FDU 28-23. Lots of threes, but they were scoring pretty easily at the other end. This isn’t a new thing or a knock; they’re young and this defense isn’t easy to pick up.
For Omicron to chill out
JPJ is having a hard enough time getting butts in seats.
