Slackie Brown creator Casey Pazzalia spent some time chatting with 2012 Rays first-round pick Richie Shaffer about his MLB career, Rays fans, getting drafted, life in indy ball, his upcoming book, Twitch streaming and a lot more.
“You get there and you realize it’s not that far away, and now you become obsessed with it. It’s almost like a drug. Once you get a taste of it, you can’t get it out of your head.” – Richie Shaffer on reaching MLB
Shaffer played 51 games with the Rays between 2015 and 2016, homering for his first-ever hit and playing at five different positions. Now 29, he’s transitioning into a career with the pen and controller. Later this year, he plans to release his first book, a fiction novel, and he streams on Twitch three times a week.
