Virginia Tech Basketball Survives Late Miami Surge for 80-78 Win
The Virginia Tech basketball program was cruising on Tuesday night at home against Miami until things fell apart down the stretch. Up by as many as 17 in the second half, they needed a potential game-winning three-pointer from Miami guard Isaiah Wong to rim out to secure an 80-78 win.

The Hokies were led by junior transfer Keve Aluma who scored a career-high 26 points. Aluma was 9-for-16 from the field and filled the stat sheet with six boards, four assists, and a steal. Other double-digit scorers for the Hokies were Justyn Mutts (15), Tyrece Radford (13), and Jalen Cone (12). Radford also led the team on the glass with nine rebounds.

Tech’s defense forced 18 turnovers but the 78 points they allowed were the most so far this season. Before tonight, only Penn State (75) and Villanova (73) had scored more than 70 points against Tech.
The win brought the 24th-ranked Hokies’ record to 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in ACC play. They’ll play rival Virginia at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
