WATCH: Adam Jones Homered in First Game Post-Baltimore
Yesterday was Opening Day across Major League Baseball. Both local teams lost their openers to rival New York teams — Baltimore to the Yankees (7-2); Washington to the Mets (2-0) — but a DMV baseball legend made the most of his first game in an unfamiliar uniform.
I’m not referring to Bryce Harper, who went 0-for-3 in his Phillies’ debut, or even Manny Machado, who matched Harper’s performance in his first Padres’ outing. Instead, I’m talking about a guy who made five All-Star appearances with the Orioles and is way more likable than Machado and Harper. That guy is Adam Jones, the new leadoff hitter and starting centerfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Wearing a non-O’s uniform on Opening Day for the first time in a decade, Jones went deep in his third at-bat off Dodgers pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu. He followed his dinger with a single in his fourth trip to the plate, finishing 2-for-4 in his D-Backs’ debut. Check out his 391-foot bomb below…
Arizona lost 12-5 in the game but who really cares about that. We just want to watch AJ.
