Coming in early March, a two-part HBO documentary, titled “Leaving Neverland,” will outline child abuse at the hands of Michael Jackson. Today, February 19th, HBO dropped the official trailer for the film on YouTube (below).
HBO’s four-hour documentary about Michael Jackson and two of his abuse victims — Leaving Neverland — will be aired on two separate nights in early March. The first two-hour block will debut on March 3rd at 8:00 P.M ET, followed by the second two hours on March 4th at 8:00 P.M ET. You can view the official trailer (which was published on YouTube today, February 19th) below:
The film, which goes on to describe “intimate contact” between Jackson and the two victims featured, was directed and produced by renowned documentarian Dan Reed.
The two-part documentary LEAVING NEVERLAND explores the separate but parallel experiences of two young boys, James “Jimmy” Safechuck, at age ten, and Wade Robson, at age seven, both of whom were befriended by Michael Jackson. They and their families were invited into his wondrous world, entranced by the singer’s fairy-tale existence as his career reached its peak.
Through gut-wrenching interviews with Safechuck, now 37, and Robson, now 41, as well as their mothers, wives and siblings, LEAVING NEVERLAND crafts a portrait of sustained abuse, exploring the complicated feelings that led both men to confront their experiences after both had a young son of their own.
