Check out this hype video for the James Madison-George Mason rivalry game on Friday night.

Of all the George Mason basketball games I’ve sat courtside for this year, Friday’s game against James Madison is the one I’ve been looking forward to the most. After all, they’re right down the road from Fairfax, VA and just in general conversation, you hear about James Madison University pretty much every day.

Then George Mason dropped a hype video for the rivalry game today and my anticipation has practically doubled.

Friday’s game at Eagle Bank Arena will be their 98th meeting against one another, with the Dukes leading 50 wins to 47. Last year, however, George Mason won 76-72 against JMU and in their last 23 meetings, the Patriots have gone 21-2, according to George Mason’s game preview.

The turnout at Eagle Bank Arena, I believe, will be better than it has been for the JMU game. Not only is the game looking like one GMU can win but students will get a free rally wig with their ID; that’s gotta bring some folks to EBA, right?

James Madison, now ranked No. 205 by KenPom, is fresh off their seventh win of the season (over No. 128 Radford). Mason, on the other hand, has just four victories but ranks No. 171 via KenPom.

The game, like most this season, will air nationally on ESPN+. Locally, however, there will also be a broadcast on MASN.
