WATCH: Jorge Alfaro Smacks 1st Homer of 2020; Miami Back Over .500
Jorge Alfaro smacked 18 homers last season for the Marlins, his first year with the club. This season he was penciled right in as their starting catcher but a late-July coronavirus diagnosis delayed his 2020 debut. He didn’t play until August 21st and it’s been a struggle; he was hitting .152 entering Tuesday’s game against the Braves with zero homers.
On Tuesday, that changed a little bit. He went 2-for-4 in Miami’s 8-0 drubbing of Atlanta, including his first dinger. It wasn’t cheap either, he went oppo in the third inning, landing 415 feet away from home plate.

Sixto Sanchez dominated on the mound for Miami, scattering three hits across six scoreless innings. Matt Joyce and Garrett Cooper also went yard for the Fish.

Miami also bumped themselves over .500 with the win. They’re now 19-18 and a real threat to break their postseason drought. They have won three of their last four games.
