Watch: Manny Machado Ovation, HR in Camden Yards Homecoming

Baltimore fans at Camden Yards gave Manny Machado a warm welcome on Tuesday prior to his first at-bat. Then, they also cheered when he bashed a 455-foot home run in the third inning.

Manny Machado played six-plus seasons in Baltimore, collecting 977 hits and 162 home runs in the process. Last year, however, with the team becoming increasingly less competitive, he was shipped to Los Angeles for a haul of prospects. This offseason, he signed a monster deal with San Diego and on Tuesday night, he made his first appearance at Camden Yards in another uniform.

Over 21,000 fans showed up to see Machado’s Camden Yards homecoming, and they couldn’t help but cheer when he approached for his first at-bat, and then again when their former golden boy bashed a Jimmy Yacabonis fastball deep into the visitor’s bullpen in the top of the third inning. Check out both below:

The homer was Machado’s 17th of the season and he finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a homer, and a walk.

San Diego (39-40) went on to beat Baltimore (22-57) by an 8-3 final score.
