WATCH: Ryan Mountcastle Hits First Big League Homer
When Chris Davis was struggling earlier in the season, O’s fans all over wanted his at-bats to go to Ryan Mountcastle. Late in August, it eventually happened and the 23-year old has made the most of his time in the batter’s box. Mountcastle hit a monster 420-foot homer on Sunday off Tanner Roark. It was the first of his career.

As is customary, his Orioles’ teammates gave him the silent treatment after the jack.
420 feet on that Mountcastle home run. Getting silent treatment in dugout per MASN broadcast. Ball is somewhere on a nearby highway. #orioles

In his second AB, Mountcastle collected another hit, bringing his season batting average to .385 (10-for-26).
As for the O’s, they traded away longtime reliever Mychal Givens and Tommy Milone earlier Sunday as the trade deadline approaches. They’re not out of the postseason race yet but they’re clearly trying to pile up some more assets for the future. For Givens, they got Tyler Nevin and Terrin Vavra (plus a player to be named later) from Colorado. Two more players to be named later will come their way from Atlanta in the Milone trade.
UPDATE: Mountcastle hit another homer (second of his career) in his third AB, right in the same spot as the first!
