Watch Virginia’s Francesco Badocchi Play ‘One Shining Moment’ on Piano

On Saturday, the Virginia Cavaliers basketball program celebrated their first national title in front of several thousand fans at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. There were plenty of highlights during the event — including impressive speeches from Ralph Sampson and Tony Bennett and a “one more year” chant for Ty Jerome — but the one thing that’s stuck with me was Francesco Badocchi playing “One Shining Moment” on piano towards the end of the event.
Badocchi, a freshman, was touted as a world-class piano player by Bennett and he delivered to Wahoo Nation with his rendition of college basketball’s most famous tune.

A native of Italy, Badocchi played in 11 games for the Hoos this year and should have a bigger role in coming years.
