With Aaron Hicks 20th Homer, Yankees Have Four Players Over 20
If there is one thing the New York Yankees don’t have to worry about, it’s their power numbers. Prior to Thursday’s game against the Rangers, the Yankees were second in slugging percentage and had 181 home runs overall. By comparison, they’ve only given up 126 of them.
Soon after the game started on Thursday, Aaron Hicks went and made it 182 home runs on the year. He smacked his 20th jack of the year in the first inning to put the Yanks up 2-0. More importantly, he’s now the fourth Yankees’ player with 20-plus homers this year. The others go as follows: Giancarlo Stanton (27), Aaron Judge (26), and Didi Gregorius (20).
While no one else currently has four guys with 20-plus home runs, the Colorado Rockies are knocking on the door. They already have three — Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story, and Charlie Blackmon — with Ian Desmond sitting at 19 jacks.
