Rick Steiner’s Son is Getting His Shot at NFL Fame
If you’re an old-school professional wrestling fan, chances are you spent a lot of time watching the Steiner Brothers (Scott and Rick Steiner) in action. The real-life brothers (real last name Rechsteiner) had a decade-long run in the spotlight, including major WWF (now WWE) victories at Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.
Fast-forward to present-day and another ‘Steiner’ is getting his shot at fame. Bronson Rechsteiner, son of Rick (real name Robert), signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday after the 2020 NFL Draft wrapped up. An undrafted free agent, Rechsteiner will try to crack the Ravens’ backfield. At Kennesaw State, he led the team in rushing last season, racking up 909 yards on just 112 carries (8.1 per carry). He also hit paydirt seven times for the 11-win Owls and threw a 60-yard touchdown pass.

Football is the plan for the immediate future, but Bronson also has dreams of joining the family business. “I’m going to take football as far as I can,” he told an Atlanta’s NBC affiliate last year, “then when it’s time to close that door I’ll probably get into wrestling.”
Bronson’s father and uncle — who went on the singles fame as Big Poppa Pump — won the WWF Tag Team belts twice during their run with the promotion and earned PWI Tag Team of the Year honors while in both WWF and WCW. In 2003, the Steiner Brothers came in at #2 in PWI’s all-time tag-team rankings. The Steiners have mostly moved on from the wrestling business — Scott owns a Shoney’s franchise; Rick works in real estate — but still make occasional appearances on the independent circuit.
