Xavier Silas Becomes First Big 3 Player to Return to the NBA
Well, this totally legitimizes the Big 3, right?
Xavier Silas, who hasn’t played in an NBA game since the 2011-12 season, has made his way back to the NBA with a 10-day contract from the injury-riddled Celtics. Silas had been with the Northern Arizona Suns this year — the Phoenix Suns G-League affiliate — and over the summer, was one of the guys to help launch Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 league, the Big 3.
In 43 games with the NA Suns this year, Silas averaged over 18 points per game and shot 38.1 percent from downtown.

The Celtics were in town to play the Phoenix Suns on Monday night, so it was definitely convenient for Silas to join the team at this time.
Silas played his college ball at Colorado (2006-08) and Northern Illinois (2009-11), then went undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft. However, he was able to catch on with the Philadelphia 76ers for some of the 2011-12 season.
For fans of Slackie Brown, we’ve been in contact with Xavier over the last few months and are developing a feature story on him.
