2019 NBA ASG Starters Announced; D-Rose, Wizards Miss Out

With a collection of fan, media, and player votes, the starters have officially been unveiled for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game — fan votes count for 50 percent, while players and media count for 25 percent each. And although the fans had D-Rose selected as an NBA ASG starter in the West, a crummy result from the media kept him out; Rose finished third in the Western Conference Backcourt voting.

Locally, there also weren’t any Washington Wizards selected as starters, though Bradley Beal should get voted in as a reserve. Likewise, Rose has a good chance at being picked by the head coaches for a reserve spot in the West.

Reserves will be announced on January 31st, followed by a February 7th draft of the entire pool of players by the two captains: East, Giannis Antetokounmpo; West, LeBron James.

According to the voting results posted by ESPN, Beal finished 7th in the Eastern Conference Backcourt category.

The 2019 NBA ASG will be played on Sunday, February 17th on TNT at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. That said, it’s a nice touch having Kemba in there as a starter since the game will be on his home floor. Prior to the NBA ASG, the Three-Point Contest, Slam Dunk Contest, and Skills Challenge will be on Saturday, February 16th at 8pm on TNT.

The Celebrity Game (ESPN, 7pm) and Rising Stars Challenge (TNT, 9pm) will be on Friday, February 15th.
