LOOK: Jordan Brand 2019 NBA All-Star Jerseys

Nearly 30 years ago, the NBA held the All-Star Game in Charlotte, NC for the first time. The Hornets were new to the league at that point but the game, rosters, and jerseys were epic. Since then, the Hornets have had an interesting road; they had memorable seasons and players post-1991 (ie: Larry Johnson & Alonzo Mourning) but they also weren’t an actual NBA team for over a decade.

Nevertheless, the NBA All-Star Game will finally return to The Queen City in a few weeks, and since Michael Jordan is the team’s owner, the 2019 NBA All-Star Edition uniforms will be made by Jordan Brand.

On Thursday, the Jordan Brand NBA All-Star Edition Jerseys were revealed, complete with the legendary Jumpman logo.

Even though Shaq’s jersey will never fit, the guys from Inside the NBA got their own personalized version on Thursday night.

The new Jordan brand NBA All-Star Edition jerseys are inspired by the 1991 game, and also by the host franchise; the stars on the side have the famous honeycomb design that the Hornets use — see here.

David Creech, the VP of Design for Jordan Brand, spoke about all the intricacies in an article on Nike’s official website.

Per Nike:

โ€œWith the game being in Charlotte, we were presented with a great opportunity to look at the rich history of the city and its many connections to our brand. You see this come together with the 1991 inspiration combined with the clean black and white design language,โ€ says Jordan Brand Vice President of Design David Creech.

For the graphics and color combination of red, white and blue, the Jordan Brand design team took cues from early-90s style and the first Charlotte NBA All-Star Game in 1991. As a tribute to the host team, the uniform shorts include a 1991-inspired logo on the waist and side, a honeycomb pattern integrated into the NBA star logo and crowns for Queen City on the vents. โ€œIt was important for us to add details that honor the Charlotte community and the great fans there,โ€ notes Creech.

The starters for the 2019 All-Star Game were announced today, with Charlotte’s own Kemba Walker earning a spot out of the Eastern Conference. All starters have their Swingman Jerseys available here via Nike.com (jerseys $120; shorts $90). Reserves for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, selected by NBA head coaches, will be announced on January 31st.
