Boston U & Holy Cross Basketball Teams to Wear Masks During Tuesday’s Game

The entire country is used to wearing a mask by now to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Athletes and coaching staffs are among them; watch any professional or collegiate basketball or football game and you’ll see masks during pregame, on the sidelines, and postgame. Where you don’t see them a lot is on the field or court (baseball not included).

On Tuesday, that will change a little bit as a D-1 basketball game between Holy Cross and Boston University will feature masked players during game action.

According to ESPN, “the game is believed to be the first in men’s college basketball this season in which both teams will be wearing masks on the court.” On Monday, a girl’s game between both schools featured players from both sides wearing masks and the BU-Holy Cross game (at Holy Cross) saw the Terriers wearing masks. All games from here on out at BU will require opponents to mask up.

The game will be on ESPN+ at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
