Bryce Harper Goes Deep Off Strasburg; Nats Win in Extras

Bryce Harper took Stephen Strasburg deep on Tuesday, breaking a 1-1 tie in the third inning with a three-run, opposite-field jack. The bomb came on a 2-2 offspeed pitch by Strasburg and sent the Philadelphia crowd into a frenzy. Harper, who has three homers in total, now has two home runs against his former team this year.

From there, Bryce was held in check by the Nats pitching staff; he finished the game 1-for-4 with a strikeout, walk, and three runs batted in.

Harper will get the headlines for his blast but the Nats got the last laugh on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. They put up four runs in the top of the 10th inning to break a 6-6 tie and earn the win. Sean Doolittle earned his third win of the season in relief while Juan Soto, Yan Gomes, Howie Kendrick, and Victor Robles led the Nats’ offense with home runs of their own.

Washington is now 5-5 on the season. Philadelphia leads the NL East with a 7-3 record.
