Watch: New Emmitt Smith “Deep Blue” Documentary

Both New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys’ fans will enjoy the new Emmitt Smith documentary by the Cowboys. It is part of their “Deep Blue” documentary series.

As long as I can remember, my favorite NFL games are when the New York Giants play the Dallas Cowboys. For whatever reason, they normally wind up being great, especially for television. While the one that sticks out as the most exciting is their Monday Night Game in 2003, the first Cowboys-Giants game I remember is the one where Emmitt Smith played with a busted shoulder. Luckily, the Cowboys just released a 43-minute documentary on the game, titled The Cold Shoulder.

Yes, it was produced by the Cowboys, but even Giants’ fans will enjoy seeing the old astroturf Meadowlands, the vintage jerseys, and forgotten G-Men like Chris Calloway. As for the Cowboys, they argue that the game could be partly responsible for their eventual Super Bowl victories in 1992, 1993, and 1995.

Check it out below:

Greg Jackson, the guy who actually made the tackle on Smith that injured his shoulder, has a lot of screen time in the documentary. Ironically, it’s because he works for the Cowboys now as the coach of their secondary.

During the game, Smith ran 32 times for 168 yards while also adding 10 receptions for 61 yards. The game, which took place in Week 14, ended with the Cowboys winning 16-13.

Prior to this doc, the Cowboys produced another film with ties to the G-Men, one about former Giants and Cowboys coach Bill Parcells. The film, titled Parcells’ Final Ride, is about his final playoff run with Dallas.

There have been several “Deep Blue” documentary films from the Cowboys. You can watch them all here.
