Despite ‘Andre The Giant’ Doc, Bill Simmons Has Been Wiped From HBO Platforms

When I first subscribed to HBO Now last year, I was able to watch Bill Simmons’ show, Any Given Wednesday, whenever I wanted. Even though Simmons is a sports media god and I consider him an idol, the show wasn’t good…like, at all. At least I tried, right?

A few months after that, I wanted to watch some interview again and found that Any Given Wednesday was dumbed down to just short clips — there were zero full episodes available.

But today, since Simmons’ Andre the Giant documentary was coming up, I went back to see what was left of Any Given Wednesday on HBO’s on-demand service. Well, there was zero signs of Simmons anywhere — not in the sports section, not in the series section, and not even when I searched for “Bill Simmons”. I’m not sure when they totally exiled Any Given Wednesday from their network but it was surprising since they still have a lot of marginally successful shows still available.

Now, I don’t know what that means exactly. After all, during Simmons’ recent appearance on Marc Maron’s podcast, WTF with Marc Maron, he confirmed that they’re still doing business together and have projects lined up in the future. Maybe, with Simmons acknowledging himself that Any Given Wednesday was a flop, he chose to have them take it down.

Anyhow, the Andre doc is supposed to be killer and will premiere on April 10th at 10 P.M ET on HBO. Simmons is an executive producer on the film and his company, Ringer Films, is one of four companies to put the doc together — along with HBO Sports, WWE, and JMH Films.
