Enes Kanter Kisses MSG Floor After “We Want Kanter” Chant

Enes Kanter, whether you like him or not, is a fan favorite in New York City. And on Wednesday evening, after riding the pine for over a week to let younger players get floor time, a “WE WANT KANTER!” chant broke out at Madison Square Garden with the Knicks trailing the Mavericks by double digits.

Knicks head coach David Fisdale obliged, sending Kanter into the game after his team fell behind 74-58. Kanter then pulled an Allen Iverson, kissing the logo at center court upon his return to the floor.

Kanter eventually scored five points in nine minutes, adding two boards and one assist. On the season, Kanter is averaging a double-double with 14.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

Dallas, behind a triple-double from Dennis Smith Jr., beat the Knicks 114-90.

In the days leading up to Wednesday’s game, a quote from Kanter made the rounds regarding his current situation.

“What they’re doing to me is pretty messed up. I deserve way better.” -Enes Kanter to ESPN’s Ian Begley

Moving forward, it’s quite possible the Knicks and Kanter reach a buy-out; a lot of teams could use a big guy with the ability to score down low.

Last season with the Knicks, Kanter started all 71 games he played in, the first time in his long career he’s done so.
