New ESPN Sports Betting Show Will Be Perfect For Gamblers
There will be an ESPN sports betting show — “Daily Wager” — on ESPN News starting on Monday, March 11th, 2019.
Over the last few years, sports gambling has become less third-rail and more mainstream, thanks in large part to its legalization effort. Brent Musberger launched an entire radio network dedicated to sports gambling, Fox Sports airs Lock It In on a daily basis, and now ESPN is joining the party on an official basis.
Today, March 1st, ESPN’s Andy Hall put out a press release on ESPN Media Zone announcing the company’s new sports gambling show on ESPN News. The show, titled Daily Wager, will air during Monday-through-Friday at a perfect time for sports bettors, 6:00 P.M ET, with sports betting analyst Doug Kezirian serving as the show’s host.
Daily Wager will launch on Monday, March 11th on ESPN News.
By coming on at 6:00 P.M ET, bettors will be able to get information about the night’s games right before they start. Lock It In, on the other hand, comes on at 4:30 P.M ET and leaves a big gap between the show and the games they’re talking about.
In the sports betting world, 90 minutes is a lot of time; lines change regularly, especially as it gets closer to tip-off or first pitch, and in the same breath, late-scratches, injuries, and other factors are usually unearthed shortly before the start of sporting events. Kezirian, who graduated from Brown University with a degree in economics, will be able to update viewers on these types of things, potentially making the broadcast a valuable part of daily consumption.

“ESPN’s mission is to serve sports fans,” said Norby Williamson, ESPN Executive Vice President and Executive Editor, Studio Production. “The sports betting environment has changed and interest is increasing at unprecedented levels.
