ESPN to Air Kobe Bryant’s Unforgettable Final Game at 9pm

Everyone has a specific Kobe Bryant memory, something they can recall that embodies the legend of the Black Mamba. Personally, his final game is one of those special memories, as it is for a ton of basketball fans. It re-connected me with friends from college, each of us texting back and forth as Kobe torched the Utah Jazz for 60 points. Kobe was special for me and my friends from school — we had the privilege of watching his best years, the Pau-Odom-Kobe years, at a time when we didn’t have much in the way of responsibility. We’d post up during the regular season for Kobe’s late-night games, then make it more of an event for Lakers playoff games. Beers and blunts and Mamba. It was pre-Twitter and pre-Instagram, but all the interaction we needed was inside those rooms. So, after we all moved on from school to start our lives, it was special to live through that lens one more time on April 13th, 2016. That’s my favorite Kobe memory, but it’s really a culmination of a career wrapped up into one night.

I say all that to say this: ESPN will be airing Kobe’s final game tonight at 9:00 P.M ET. They’re moving Kansas-Oklahoma State — their regularly-scheduled programming — to ESPN2, and I’m sure the schools don’t mind a bit.
