Clear Your Schedule Friday and Watch Tony Romo’s Documentary

NFL Network will air their latest “A Football Life” documentary on Friday featuring Dallas Cowboys legend Tony Romo.

You know how older folks can tell you where they were when JFK was assassinated? Well, I can tell you exactly where I was when Tony Romo debuted for the Dallas Cowboys. It was 2006, I was a senior in high school, and my then-girlfriend and I were watching from her parent’s living room. We sat in the exact same place a week later when Romo made his first start on Monday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers.

Those times, for me, were simple and easy, as is the case with most high schoolers. Likewise, it was the start of simple and easy times for the Dallas Cowboys. With Romo as the quarterback, fans knew the team was in good hands. It was a feeling they had missed since Troy Aikman retired, and a feeling, I believe, a lot of people took for granted as time progressed.

Tony Romo’s career didn’t end on great terms. Unfortunately, he was shown the door with a lot of good football left in him. Yes, he had a tough time with injuries near the end but if you got Jerry Jones alone right now, I am fairly certain he has some regrets about the last chapter of No. 9’s career.

And as I write this, the Dallas Cowboys and their fans no longer have that easy feeling on Sundays. The old guard, the one set in motion by Romo in 2006, is gone, officially. Romo was exiled first, followed by Dez Bryant a year later. Jason Witten, who may have seen this disaster coming, left on his own not long after Dez. The culture-builders were traded in for shiny new toys, and now we’re seeing that the toys are somewhat defective.

While the entire situation is hard to swallow, you can re-live the era on Friday thanks to NFL Network. They’ll be airing a brand new A Football Life documentary about Tony Romo, set to premiere at 8:00 P.M ET.

Getcha tissues ready…
