George Mason’s Dave Paulsen, Doc Nix Officially Have Nats Fever

The 2019-20 George Mason basketball season is less than two weeks away but that hasn’t stopped head coach Dave Paulsen and pep band leader Doc Nix from catching Nats Fever during their run to the 2019 World Series. Both popular George Mason figures have been supporting the team in-person at nearby Nats Park, and both have brought some friends along for the ride.

Paulsen went to Game 4 with his family and ran into another Paulsen while there, NBC Sports and 106.7 The Fan personality Dave Paulsen.

Paulsen is getting ready to begin his fifth season at George Mason. He took over a nine-win team in 2015 and has built them into a legitimate contender in the A-10. During his time in Fairfax, he’s led the Patriots to a 20-win campaign (’16-’17) and is coming off an 18-15 season.

Nix, the leader of one of the best pep bands in all of college basketball, is at Nats Park before Game 5, and he isn’t alone either. Nix led his band, The Green Machine, in a performance on the second deck of Nats Park — which included the unofficial Nationals anthem, “Baby Shark” — and he even made a sit-down appearance on ESPN with Mason alumnus Phil Murphy.

Nix is known for his outfits at GMU basketball games and he sure did not disappoint when the ESPN cameras were rolling. Few people can toss an outfit together like Doc Nix.

What a great time for D.C. sports. Hopefully, there’s some similar excitement for George Mason basketball come March, if you know what sayin’.

George Mason opens their upcoming basketball season at home on November 5th against Navy at 7:00 P.M ET at Eagle Bank Arena.
