Georgetown to Host Harvard in 2019 NIT First Round
As it turns out, the Georgetown Hoyas didn’t have a good enough resume to make the 2019 NCAA Tournament. While they were sort of on the bubble, a loss to crummy Loyola Marymount and an early exit in the Big East Tournament likely kept them out of the immediate bubble conversation. They did do enough to make the 2019 NIT, though, as a No. 3 seed in a pretty impressive field.
To start the tournament, teams play campus games. Eventually, when the field of 32 shrinks down to four, the tournament gets really interesting as it moves to Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Having said that, the Hoyas will host their game in the opening round, and their opponent is another school with a long history of academic excellence: Harvard.
Harvard, a No. 6 seed, will play at Capital One Arena against Georgetown on Wednesday, March 20th at 7:00 P.M ET. If they win that game, they’ll play the winner of No. 2 NC State/No. 7 Hofstra.
