Important NBA Dates to Remember Moving Forward

The NBA has approved a 22-team return, complete with a few regular-season games to get everyone back into the swing of things and a postseason. Thirteen teams from the Western Conference and nine from the Eastern Conference will return. The seasons of the Hawks, Knicks, Cavaliers, Pistons, Bulls, Hornets, Warriors, and Timberwolves are over.

All games will be played (at least at first) at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. While unlikely, I can see them trying to get the playoffs in front of some fans if things improve with the coronavirus pandemic.

Teams will train at their own sites in July, followed by a move to Orlando for “full camps” later in the month, per Woj. Additionally, he wrote on ESPN that Portland was the only team to vote against the proposed format, and that the teams left out could have “mandatory summer training camps and regional fall leagues” to bridge the gap.

Important NBA Dates:

  • July 30: 2019-20 NBA season restarts
  • August 25: NBA Draft lottery
  • October 12: NBA Finals Game 7 (if necessary)

  • October 18: NBA free agency begins

If the dates listed above remain in place, next season should start on December 1st, according to Sporting News.
