Jed Lowrie Has More Hits in 2018 Than Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez COMBINED
To call the New York Yankees’ season a disappointment would be an understatement at this point. They went out and picked up a bunch of high-end players this offseason, adding to a team that already had some of the best young talents in baseball. However, through 16 games, the Bombers are just 8-8 and coming off an ugly loss to the Miami Marlins.
While the offense, in general, has been outstanding, two guys who they expected to be raking are doing the opposite. Combined, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez are hitting just .194, with 24 hits in 124 at-bats. Stanton, to his credit, is the higher of the two (.197) but neither is above .200.
With that said, four MLB players have as many hits as them (Dansby Swanson, Jose Altuve, Jose Pirela, and DJ LeMahieu) and one guy, Jed Lowrie, has four more hits than them. Lowrie, who leads the MLB in hits, has 28 base knocks in 81 at-bats.
Oh yeah, and for good measure, Lowrie has just as many home runs (6) as the Stanton-Sanchez combo.
