Jimmer Fredette Gets Standing Ovation From Utah Jazz Fans

After playing four scoreless minutes on Saturday for Phoenix, his first NBA action of the season, Jimmer Fredette got meaningful playing time on Monday night against the Utah Jazz. And, in case you’ve forgotten, Utah was where Jimmer became Jimmer.

Back in the 2010-11 college basketball season, Fredette took Utah and the college basketball world by storm at BYU. He averaged 28.9 points per game as a senior, gaining popularity and headlines like Trae Young and Ja Morant have in recent years.

His struggles on the court post-BYU are no secret, yet fans in Utah are still fond of ole No. 32. Fredette checked in during the second quarter of the game on Monday and the fans let him have it…in a good way.

Watch the standing ovation below:

As for the game, Fredette scored six points in 14 minutes. His shooting, however, was nothing like his BYU days; the shooting guard went 1-for-10 from the field, including an 0-for-5 from three-point land. The bulk of his scoring came on four made free throws.

Phoenix got blown out in the game, losing 125-92, but it should be noted that Fredette’s teammate, Devin Booker, went off for 59 points.

Jimmer Fredette is on a two-year contract with Phoenix. Prior to signing with the Suns, he led the CBA in scoring, highlighted by a 75-point game in November.
