Jose Reyes Finally Snaps 0-20 Hitting Slump With Big Game Against Atlanta
Although the New York Mets lost 4-3, one of their most recognizable faces — Jose Reyes — busted out of his season-long slump with three hits in four at-bats.
Reyes, who signed a one-year, $2 million contract this offseason, had been 0-20 since the start of the 2018 MLB season.

Hitting in the No. 9 spot behind starting pitcher Jacob deGrom, Reyes lined a single to center field in his first at-bat. Then, in typical Jose Reyes fashion, he promptly stole second. The breakout single obviously got Reyes going because he lined another single in his second at-bat, then bunted for a single in his third at-bat. In his fourth AB, though, he was finally put out to finish 3-4 on the day.
Before the hits, Reyes was at least having fun with his slump. He tweeted before the game “Reyes will get a hit.” several times over like he was writing on a chalkboard or something; it was funny.
Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit. Reyes will get a hit.

Even though La Melaza wasn’t collecting hits in the first few weeks of the season, he was making a lot of contact. In fact, he only has four K’s in 24 at-bats this year.
The Mets fell to 14-6 on the year but remain one-game ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East.
Reyes is now hitting .125 on the season and .248 since re-joining the Mets in 2016.
