Kristine Leahy Completely Crapped On Kobe Bryant and His Academy Award Victory
Kristine Leahy, co-host of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, took an absolute dump on Kobe Bryant and his victory at Sunday’s Academy Award ceremony.

There’s a lot to unpack here.
First, a lot of movie scripts are self-serving…GET OVER IT. Ever heard of Good Will Hunting? Ben Affleck and Matt Damon literally wrote a script about their hometown, then starred in the fuckin’ thing. Self-serving is par for the course in film.
Next, the speech Kobe gave on the second-screen experience seemed super genuine. It sounded like he was legitimately going to cry. Just a few weeks ago the world united in defense of LeBron James over Laura Ingraham’s comments, yet we get push-back when an athlete succeeds on another stage — it makes no sense. Kobe Bryant should be applauded for stepping outside the normal post-athlete life of broadcasting/coaching, not told his story was “self-serving” and his speech inauthentic.
Lastly, Leahy went totally off the rails with her comparison of Kobe Bryant to big-name actors and actresses who never won an Oscar. While it’s true in a broad sense that there are more deserving people out there, those big-name Hollywood people don’t actually try and win Best Animated Short Film. If Tom Cruise went out and made a bunch of Scientology shorts this year, he may in fact win, but those awards are beneath the Hollywood elite. There are six awards that really matter, the rest get doled out as consolation prizes. Comparing Best Actor to Best Animated Short Film is like comparing an NBA Championship to Player of the Week. Let’s not forget that the Three 6 Mafia won an Oscar a few years ago…this is a cheap shot aimed at people who don’t understand the Academy Awards — a group Kristine Leahy is officially a part of.
Colin Cowherd stayed pretty quiet and let Leahy rant, although he did believe Kobe to be genuine during his speech. The worst part about this whole thing is that I love Kristine Leahy; she just had a crumby take here…
