Lane Kiffin “Honored and Humbled” to Become Ole Miss Head Coach

Not long after Lane Kiffin won another Conference USA title as the head coach at Florida Atlantic, the 44-year old was announced as the new head coach at Ole Miss. On the school’s athletic website, a new hype video announcing the hire is the first thing you see.

Per the official Ole Miss release, athletic director Keith Carter said he “couldn’t be more excited” to bring Kiffin on board, adding he “checked every box” and is a “home run” hire for the Rebels. In turn, Kiffin said he was “truly honored and humbled to join the Ole Miss family.”

The son of famed head coach and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, Lane Kiffin played quarterback at Fresno State before getting into coaching. He has served as the head coach for three FBS college programs — Tennessee, USC, and FAU — in addition to one NFL franchise — Oakland Raiders. Kiffin was also the offensive coordinator for USC (’05-06) and Alabama (’14-16).

“I look forward to producing many exciting memories to add to Ole Miss’ storied football legacy. I am excited to get to Oxford and begin the groundwork of building a championship program that Mississippi’s flagship university deserves, and I’m thrilled to be back in the greatest athletics’ conference in the nation. Hotty Toddy!”

In total, Kiffin has a 61-34 record as a college head coach, including three different 10-win seasons.

This season, FAU went 10-3 with a 7-1 conference record. They blew out UAB 49-6 in the conference title game, Kiffin’s second Conference USA championship.
