LeBron’s ‘Ozark’ Tweet Brings 20,000 New Followers to Jason Bateman

When LeBron James mentioned “Ozark” cast members in a tweet, it resulted in 20,000 new followers for Jason Bateman. Co-stars Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner also benefited.

On September 22nd, 2018, LeBron James tweeted out his love for Ozark and how he “can’t wait for Season 3” to hit Netflix. He also gave shoutouts to Julia Garner, known as Ruth Langmore on the show, and all four members of the Byrde family: Jason Bateman (Marty Byrde), Laura Linney (Wendy Byrde), Sofia Hublitz (Charlotte Byrde), and Skylar Gaertner (Jonah Byrde).

Unfortunately, Garner and Linney don’t have known Twitter accounts. The three others, though, Bateman, Hublitz, and Gaertner, all benefited with thousands of new Twitter followers.

Before LeBron’s Ozark tweet, Jason Bateman was averaging about 600 new followers per day, per Social Blade. In the four days after the tweet, he had amassed 20,029 new followers.

While it’s sort of a drop in the bucket for a megastar like Bateman, the effect LeBron’s tweet had on Hublitz and Gaertner is major. According to Social Blade, both were under 1,000 followers pre-LeBron (Hublitz, 916; Gaertner, 242). Over the course of the next four days, however, Hublitz shot up to 2,492, with Gaertner reaching 1,086.

You’ve gotta feel good for the younger Byrdes. Neither are household names yet but LeBron definitely did his part in kickstarting their social media presences.

Hublitz uses her Instagram more than her Twitter but both Bateman and Gaertner retweeted LeBron’s message.
