Mac Miller Vigil Set For Tuesday at Blue Slide Park in Pittsburgh
There will be a vigil at Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park on Tuesday to honor the passing of Mac Miller.
If you can make your way to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, there will be a vigil at Blue Slide Park to honor the late Mac Miller. The event, set for 7:00 P.M ET on September 11th, is being organized by Pittsburgh’s Nightfall Records.
Blue Slide Park, released back in 2011, was Mac Miller’s first full-length studio album. BSP is part of Pittsburgh’s legendary Frick Park, nearby where Mac grew up. The album featured 16 songs, including “Party on Fifth Ave.,” “Frick Park Market,” and the title track, “Blue Slide Park.”
Wildly popular, the independently-produced Blue Slide Park debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was the first independent record in 16 years to appear in the top spot and would eventually sell over 500,000 copies (Certified Gold).
The park has become a memorial already since the awful news on Friday. Steve Benko, a Pittsburgh radio producer, provided a picture of the scene (above).
Since his passing, loads of artists, athletes, and celebrities have paid their respects. Mac Miller inspired a whole generation of do-it-yourself rappers and is as close to universally-liked as you can get. While just 26-years old, he will surely live on in hip-hop culture forever.
RIP Mac Miller.
